PCBs, please!

May 06, 2016 Scott Urueta

PCBs have been produced and I'm waiting on shipment.

I don't want to burn away my time while I'm waiting for PCBs, so I've been arranging a split bluetooth keyboard that can be clipped to your pockets or a belt so that it can be used as an input method for virtual reality (for both steno and a standard layout).

Here is a rough layout I've scribbled up:

You can tell how rough it is by all the "may be changed" bits and the disgusting kerning on the word "intact" that turns it into "in tact".

This split version is not replacing the cheap printed one. I am planning on outsourcing most of the work to a design & manufacture firm so that I can be free to focus my time on assembling and shipping the soft love. As for the cost of this, I still have the PWYW tips reserved mainly for supporting the original version and my ongoing keyboard experiments and I'll be funding the split keyboard directly out-of-pocket.

As you can see, I've also taken to (verbally) calling my printed baby the soft love since that is what shows up when I actually press the keys SOFT/HRUF on the soft love.
